Ideas to Action: Co-Creating a Human-Centered Design Workshop with Nurse Residents at Southern Maine Health Care (SMHC)

Kate Campbell and Hannah Taylor, SMHC nursing staff development specialists, are empowering individuals, fostering an innovative culture and enhancing problem-solving skills during the transition from academia to clinical practice.

The Challenge

Nurse residents often face a challenging transition from academia to clinical practice due to the complexities of their new roles.

The Solution

Kate Campbell and Hannah Taylor, SMHC nursing staff development specialists, worked with MaineHealth Innovation to co-create an Ideas to Action workshop. This workshop aids in building additional skills focused on enhancing creative mindsets and problem-solving techniques.

This has sparked additional interest in co-created workshops across the MaineHealth system, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of patient care and care team member experience.
